Managing Morwellham Quay

The Morwellham and Tamar Valley Trust is a Private Company Limited by Guarantee Without Share Capital. It has a board of directors with overall responsibility for the running of the trust, with day to day running of Morwellham Quay delegated to a single executive Director.

For some years, Anthony Power was the director responsible for the day to day running of Morwellham Quay and under his management, Morwellham has seen a steady decline in visitor numbers, deterioration of the site and spiraling debt.

In 2007 he was removed from his position and replaced with an interim director. This position is now held by Mr Barry Gamble, with Mr Powers taking the position of Head Curator.

The Morwellham Quay management structure also provides for the management of specialist areas of the site by semi autonomous department heads.

The remaining staff consists of a handful of permanent employees sufficient to keep the site ticking over during the quiet winter months and seasonal staff to cover the main season (May to October).
